What does the training involve?
To become a qualified Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), you have to pass the DVSA test, which is in three parts. After passing the Theory Test (Part 1), you must pass the two Practical Tests (Parts 2 & 3) within two years.
Home study with supporting study materials and access to our online theory programme consisting of multiple-choice questions and hazard perception video clips.
10 hours of in-car training with your dedicated trainer plus supporting study materials. So you develop improved awareness, advanced car control and a greater understanding of how to move within traffic with a higher skill level.

40 hours of in-car training with your dedicated trainer, including study materials. Part 3 focuses on how to get the best out of your students using client-centred learning and our teaching/coaching methods, plus how to teach in a moving classroom. You will also be offered the opportunity to accompany an ADI on live lessons.
After passing all three parts of the DVSA test, you’ll be awarded a green badge which means you’re a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
What are the requirements to qualify as an ADI?
You must be 21 years old or over and have your driving licence for at least four out of the last six years. It would be best if you have not been disqualified in the last four years and have no criminal record check (DBS).
